Fred from Illinois started giving to Sacred Heart Southern Missions just over 24 years ago. It began modestly with the occasional Mass card for a friend or loved one. Later he joined the Auto League.
Over time though the letters and pictures of Sacred Heart Southern Missions’ work with the poor really made an impression on him. “It was almost like a third world country, so poor.” Corporal works of mercy are quite important to Fred. He likes to support charities that work directly with those most in need. He began to direct more and more of his gifts towards Sacred Heart Southern Missions. “It seemed you had more needy people than money.”
Fred has been very thoughtful with his giving. His wife Ruth, who passed away three years ago, did a lot of research on the charities they gave to. As Fred said, “We never heard one bad word about you.” He even went so far as to track charities and how quickly they cashed his checks and sent Thank You letters. Sacred Heart Southern Missions always received high marks.
At this point Fred decided to name Sacred Heart Southern Missions as one of the top charities in his will. Our important work with the poor and timely, personal contact solidified his commitment. Fred feels that giving to Sacred Heart Southern Missions “gives me the biggest bang for my charitable buck.”
We would urge you to prayerfully consider remembering Sacred Heart Southern Missions in your estate plans as well.
